MVD recognizes that education is imperative to protecting the future of drinking water. We work together with various groups throughout the community and the state to support & participate in events that promote this initiative.
Recent Events MVD has been involved with include the following:
New Hampshire Construction Career Days is a non-profit organization which brings students together annually with the Construction & Transportation Industries to explore career options through hands-on activities.
This yearly event is sponsored by the New Hampshire Drinking Water Coalition in conjunction with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services to encourage future leaders and scientists to learn about one of the world’s most precious resources: water! The all-day event is held to celebrate National Drinking Water Week and is intended to educate students about the importance of our water resources, where drinking water comes from, and issues that impact water quality, and to show them how their actions affect the water around us.
Scientists, consultants, artists and environmental educators from public water systems, non-profit organizations, higher education and local, state and federal agencies join together on this day to share their expertise with students. Through hands-on activities, interactive exhibits and live music performances, students explore information on water conservation, water testing, groundwater pollution and keeping water clean.

Merrimack School District’s Lego League
The First Lego League’s 2017 Aqua Adventure required mentees to design, build and program a motorized LEGO® model to show what they know about water and the journey it takes to get to them. MVD participated by giving a presentation about water treatment and pollution. Mentees also met our Distribution Foreman, David Fredrickson, who provided them with a personal guided tour of MVD’s Treatment Facility.
